Day 100 Haslau an der Donau – Bratislava

Day 100 Haslau an der Donau – Bratislava

4 january 2019
Haslau an der Donau – Bratislava

This morning I woke up with cold feet. They only had gotten cold in the last part of the night. It took me a while to pack all my stuff. In the field next to mine there were horses. They were curious, but also they didn’t know what to think of me.

At the fire brigade there was this brave man taming the fire.

As I was running out of water, I asked for water at a house. The man asked me if I wanted to have tea as well, so I accepted . It was one of the three men I saw yesterday, who came running by. Then his wife Claudia asked if I wanted to eat something as well, so I gladly accepted. They also have two children, their names are Helene and Julian. So happy that I could come in. They had floor heating. This was fantastic because my toes were still very cold. They also gave me apple juice. And then the man told me he was one of the guys from yesterday. And he said that I should have asked him then if I could have stayed whit them. But that was a bit too late. I think I stayed more than an hour while talking about a whole bunch of stuff. Just before I left I took a photo of them. They asked me not to posit it, so that’s why the photo isn’t online. Then their children came white Christmas chocolate for on the way. I think I not could have a better start of my 100st day.

As the village was on the hill I had to go down from a steep hill to come back at the path along the Donau. The weather was alright only the wind was still blowing strong. Andreas had explained a bit about the region. And the strong wind is one of them, the region is full with wind turbines.
The Donau is flowing very fast on the track between Wien and Bratislava 10.2 km/h Sorce

I had a long day ahead as I wanted to reach Bratislava. So I kept going but it was not easy because my shoulder hurts, but my left more than my right. Quite annoying. Because I really wanted to make it I decided to use my flying carpet this brought me to about 5 kilometers before the border.
Then I wanted to go back to the Donau.
So I went into the woods but it started snowing.

Winter is coming

And my GPS doesn’t like snow at all. As I kept walking through the woods my phone had just one option, but in reality the road split in two. I chose one and of course it was the wrong one. And my phone wasn’t helping as it didn’t pointed my location right. So after about 15 min wondering around I just started to walk in a direction and eventually ended at the big road which I wanted to avoid. Luckily there was a radweg (cycling lane) to walk u on. The road was long and boring. But as I was calling one of my friends it helped to keep my mind occupied and we hadn’t spoken for a while so after an hour or an hour and a half I finally reached the border.

There I danced a Scottish, the number she chose is one of my favorite.

Then I went into the border shop and called Boris who offered me to pick up.
Boris gave me the best welcome I could ever hope for on my 100 st day walking to China. He came to pick me up at the border with Slowakei. We drove to his house where he cooked a Slowakian dish, I forgot the name but it was good. And he had chocolate pie of his ma. When I am writing this I almost started drooling again. Although he had never spoken Dutch before I could still have a good conversation in Dutch. When his girlfriend came home we went outside and build a giant snowman, he looked really happy and a bit retarded. Because my host didn’t respond on my message Boris was kind enough to let me stay for the night.

  1. Hallo Aladin, you did it again! Passed another border under difficult circumstances! bravo up to BRATISLAVA ALREADY!!!
