Day 81 Arbing – Neustadtl an der Donau

6 December 2018
Arbing – Neustadtl an der Donau

After I woke up this morning I sat behind a laptop that I could use from Alex to upload the pictures of camp Mauthausen. I had made so many that it would be a pain in the ass to upload them all from my phone. I still have to write the post itself. Then I packed my bag and the brother of Alex was kind enough to drop me off a few miles out of Arbing.

Then I continued into the fields.

Then I walked through a small village called Grein.

There was a house that was being build and totally not finished but it did had a dusty couch in it. Which I didn’t try.

Then there was this river: Coupure. I have no idea which river it was. So I’m still in the dark.

At the fire department there was an old pump on display

In Grein there was also a Christmas market (like everywhere) first I thought it were only three Market stalls but there where many more. Then I passed by the church where I met a woman (later I found out that here name was Edeltraud) and she had a spare ticket for a concert in the church. I had my doubts because I wasn’t sure if I would be in Neustadtl at a reasonable time. So she offered me to drop me off at the other side of the Donau. (the ferry only goes in summer apparently). I accepted (read bought) the ticket from her.
The concert would not start for half an hour so I strolled around the market as a scavanger looking for market stalls where I could taste free food. I ended at a cookie stall and was doubting if I would buy cookies because I had to carry it. The seller didn’t speak English so there was someone translating for me. When the stall owner understood what I was doing (my journey) he grasped a pack of cookies and put it in my backpack. I was very surprised and thanked him a lot, then suddenly he gave me another pack. Wow so kind!

I also took a look at the Donau

Here is the concert

Then I went to the concert they played well

Here you see the Alpen horns

At the end of the concert I met again with Edeltraud and she asked me where I would sleep tonight, so I awnsered: ”in my tent”. Then she said: ”but it’s so cold, you can stay at my place on the couch”. Two friends of her: Fritz and his wife invited me to have a drink and a piece of pie

This is me with the, as they said Themselves, ‘old ladies’

At the bakery there was this landscape of Sugar.

And the snowman
