Bacharach – Trechtingshausen 29 October 2018 I had camped on the beach of Bacharach, it was a restless night. Parallel on both sides of the Rhine runs a railroad and there are a lot of cargo trains running over it, like really heavy ones. Just after Trechtingshausen I wanted to take a shortcut over the riverbed, but it was not possible. :/ Then I had an encounter with a Leprechaun After bareley surviving this, I went on and there was…

Day 31 Saint Goar – Bacharach

Day 31 Saint Goar – Bacharach

Saint Goar – Bacharach 28 October 2018 At breakfast with Morgan and his family, his mother sharply mentioned that as of today I’m one month on the way. We had an interesting conversation and one of the things I found out was why a lot of living rooms are on the first floor. Because when the Rhine has a lot of water in it, the ground floor floods often. His mother dropped me off at the ferry. There I continued…

Day 30 Karbach – Saint Goar

Karbach – Saint Goar 27 October 2018 Yesterday it was good that I made camp early , because around 7 it started to rain. This morning it was very foggy, so my whole tent was soaked when I packed it. It wasn’t warm last night, so I was happy to be on the move again. Because I was high up in the hills I had a good look over the hills and the river. I took a shortcut, but eventually…

Day 29 Bad Salzig – Karbach

Bad Salzig – Karbach 26 October 2018 This is Taryn my host: On the way to Karbach I walked over this square and it had this cute stream running over it. And as a graduated student Land and Watermanagement, I can be very enthusiastic about these kind of things. Further in the town I passed by this art of Saint Nikolaus. Day 24 Erpel

Day 24 Erpel

Erpel 21- October 2018 I took a day off and my host didn’t mind that I stayed a day longer. I’m thankful for that. Sight seeing in this very small city. There was a primary school, the kids were baking wafels and playing games. I think they were raising money for their school. So I bought a waffle to ‘support’ them. Here is another high water marking. It it incredibly how high the water has been.

Day 23 Bad Godesberg – Erpel

Day 23 Bad Godesberg – Erpel

Bad Godesberg – Erpel 20 October 2018 I woke up in the place we sang about with Jana and her singing group. “Home I’m going home, I need a land to feed my soul, take me home take me home over the green green hills and far away.” What they didn’t say in the song, was that it would be very foggy and my tent would be soaked from the fog. The only thing that was left to do, was…
