Day 26 Kell – Koblenz

23 October 2018 Kell – Koblenz Alfons drove me down from Kell to the Rhine, meanwhile he told me some history about the region. Down at the Rhine I had a long day ahead. First stop was Andernach. Alfons had explained that the valley opens at Andernach and near Koblenz close again. In Andernach I took a look in the Dom, but it was not that interesting. However, they did have a stamp of Compostela so I put this one…

Day 24 Erpel

Day 24 Erpel

Erpel 21- October 2018 I took a day off and my host didn’t mind that I stayed a day longer. I’m thankful for that. Sight seeing in this very small city. There was a primary school, the kids were baking wafels and playing games. I think they were raising money for their school. So I bought a waffle to ‘support’ them. Here is another high water marking. It it incredibly how high the water has been.

Day 23 Bad Godesberg – Erpel

Day 23 Bad Godesberg – Erpel

Bad Godesberg – Erpel 20 October 2018 I woke up in the place we sang about with Jana and her singing group. “Home I’m going home, I need a land to feed my soul, take me home take me home over the green green hills and far away.” What they didn’t say in the song, was that it would be very foggy and my tent would be soaked from the fog. The only thing that was left to do, was…

Day 22 Bonn – Bad Godesberg

Day 22 Bonn – Bad Godesberg

Bonn – Bad Godesberg 19 October 2018 After having a pleasant stay at Jana & Alex, I was ready to travel further. Thanks for being so flexible. In the south part of Bonn there was this church and it played exactly the same tune as the clock at my mother’s house. In Bad Godesberg I passed by the Haribo factory store. It was total madness, more than 500 products only from Haribo. My teeth almost started to hurt from the…

Day 18 Wesseling – Bonn

Day 18 Wesseling – Bonn

Wesseling – Bonn 15 October 2018   When I woke up I didn’t had a host for tonight, so I sent a few messages, made tea and packed my bag. Pretty quick I had a response wich made me happy. On the foto below you can see that the water level in the Rhine is very low. It makes it easy to camp on the river banks but it is bad for the environment, shipping (scheepvaart), and for the drinking…

Day 17 Köln – Wesseling

Day 17 Köln – Wesseling

Köln – Wesseling 14 October 2018 Leaving Mirjam (my host) & her housemates was difficult because they took good care of me. I walked to a park into the unknown. When I left the park I was suddenly walking in open field. I saw on the horizon a big flame. The flame appeared to be sort of my guide during the day. There was also a petroleum kind of smell. It was a bit sick making. The moon was exactly…
