Day 101 Bratislava
5 January 2019
Bratislava
After having breakfast I went into the city. I could leave my backpack at Boris place so I didn’t had to carry it around all day and at the end of the day he even brought it to me.
Dank je voor dit geweldige verblijf en het vieren van mijn 100st dag reizen. Je bent van harte welkom in Nederland.
I walked over the bridge to the old yard of the city to join the free walking tour. I had done one 5 years ago when I was for the first time in Bratislava. So now I did the war/communist tour. It was interesting to hear everything, especially that the communists destroyed most of the old town and not the war. But the weather was pretty miserable: wet snow, rain and leftover snow from yesterday. My Shoes failed miserably. So at the end of the tour my feet where soaked and cold. The tour guide was so kind to point me to a hostel 20 meters away where I could warm up a little.
Tural, my host, works as a pizza deliverer. And he came to pick me up at the hostel. The whole evening we were in the car and chatting. He had said to his boss that I was a close friend of his. At one moment a colleague joined him, he was new and needed to learn how it worked. But for me it was a bit weird situation because his colleague couldn’t know who I was. Luckily he only joined for one delivery. It was an interesting experience to do some sightseeing this way.
Around 12 midnight he was finished. And we went to the university by buss. At the university the control is very strict. With gates and I needed to give my passport and Nour his card to check me in.
