Day 35 Opel town (Rüsselsheim) – Ulm

1 November 2018 Opel town (Rüsselsheim) – Ulm I stayed with Felix and he offered me to give me a ride as he was heading south. After a night sleep I decided to take this incredible opportunity. I packed my bag and around noon we left. He dropped me of at the central station. There I catched up with my blog and wrote some postcards.

Day 33 Trechtingshausen – Mainz

Day 33 Trechtingshausen – Mainz

30 October 2018 Trechtingshausen – Mainz Last night I put up my tent at a camping. It was a fine spot and the surface was horizontal. When I came back from the toilet, I went completely nuts. There was a strong and cold wind coming from the south and it brought rain along. Brrr. When I left the camping, the owner came to me to collect the money. He looked like: Karbonkel. And when he had received the money, he…

Day 32 Bacharach – Trechtingshausen

Day 32 Bacharach – Trechtingshausen

Bacharach – Trechtingshausen 29 October 2018 I had camped on the beach of Bacharach, it was a restless night. Parallel on both sides of the Rhine runs a railroad and there are a lot of cargo trains running over it, like really heavy ones. Day 31 Saint Goar – Bacharach

Day 31 Saint Goar – Bacharach

Saint Goar – Bacharach 28 October 2018 At breakfast with Morgan and his family, his mother sharply mentioned that as of today I’m one month on the way. We had an interesting conversation and one of the things I found out was why a lot of living rooms are on the first floor. Because when the Rhine has a lot of water in it, the ground floor floods often. His mother dropped me off at the ferry. There I continued…

Day 30 Karbach – Saint Goar

Day 30 Karbach – Saint Goar

Karbach – Saint Goar 27 October 2018 Yesterday it was good that I made camp early , because around 7 it started to rain. This morning it was very foggy, so my whole tent was soaked when I packed it. It wasn’t warm last night, so I was happy to be on the move again. Because I was high up in the hills I had a good look over the hills and the river. I took a shortcut, but eventually…

Day 29 Bad Salzig – Karbach

Day 29 Bad Salzig – Karbach

Bad Salzig – Karbach 26 October 2018 This is Taryn my host: On the way to Karbach I walked over this square and it had this cute stream running over it. And as a graduated student Land and Watermanagement, I can be very enthusiastic about these kind of things. Further in the town I passed by this art of Saint Nikolaus. But I think I won’t get any present from him this year. New town, new manhole cover. The way…

Day 28 Koblenz – Bad Salzig

Day 28 Koblenz – Bad Salzig

Koblenz – Bad Salzig 25 October 2018 Today I went to the ‘Hausarzt’ (general practitioner) to get my last travel vaccination. FSME ( Früh Sommer Meningo Encephalitis) this is a brain infection. It is transmitted through ticks. The doctor’s assistant and the doctor were very friendly and interested in my journey. They also told me something about their travels. I left light-hearted. I went back to my host to get my stuff and say goodbye. Here is Nasr with my…
